Draft Day Preview

March 28th, 2009 by I Love Nerd York City

Most of us here at Nerd Baseball have competed in a fantasy baseball league against each other since 2002.

Tomorrow is the day we look forward to all winter.  Tomorrow is like Christmas, the 4th of July, and Arbor Day all rolled into one.  Tomorrow is Draft Day.

Some of us will draft a team that provides us with a misguided feeling of self-worth, a false reassurance that we know a little bit about baseball, and one year of bragging rights.  Others will draft a team that provides them with six months of teeth-gnashing and self-loathing.

Join us in the coming week for a recap of our draft, a look back at some memorable draft blunders, and the chance to let us know how awesome or horrible our picks are.

For today, study up on our scoring system…

So what kind of draft do you guys do? I would assume it’s an auction draft, since that’s the most accurate gauge of skill. Also, it’s like a thousand times more fun. Only the sportos, motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wasteoids, dweebies and dickheads are still doing snake drafts.

  2. I dominated the blockheads in my draft.

  3. Big talk from the Prof., although I will admit that your neuronet processor did a good job yesterday – you’ve got a solid team. With the exception of Vorpy’s team of first basemen and Nerdstradamus’s pitching staff of relief pitchers, I think everyone did a good job. It should be really competitive this year.

  4. Nerdstradamus says:

How’d i get screwed by autodraft again?!

The Matt Anderson fiasco was on me, but I hardly touched the auto-draft settings this time!

  5. Vorpy McNerd says:

Seriously . . . how the f did I end up with 8 first basemen?!?!

  6. Dr. Nerd says:

When do the rest of us get to see your picks? Or your weins?

  7. Dr. Nerd says:

Maybe everyone can do a post about their picks and open it up to criticism in the comments section?

  8. working on trying to copy the roster grid into wordpress without retyping everything. soon as i figure that out, or rosters will be up for criticism.
