I love these prop-nerd-cards.
Nothing says baseball like string hammocks, garden statues, and guitars.

Upping the ante is Mr. Flannery:

Did he just happen to have his board at the park that day, or did he plan on having it there for picture day?

These are great. Show and Flannery are the Carrot Tops of nerdy baseball players. Also, weren’t they both on the Padres?
I also vaguely remember there being another card that featured a player wearing a giant novelty-size baseball mitt.
I’d say surfing and playing guitar in a hammock are very un-nerdy activities. But these guys look like such goofballs that I suppose I need to broaden my nerd horizons to account for these situations.
I’m looking for an error card of Willie McGee with a giant novelty toothbrush as we speak.
Eric Show was actually a really good guitar player. After baseball he played out in San DIego frequently and recorded a couple albums. But he was addicted to cocaine and heroin and died from a speedball overdose. A guy I know’s mom was his attendant nurse.
