Let&#039;s break it down, 6th grade english class style.  

David Thomas (subject)
english-muffins (verb)
his (possessive)
way (direct object)
to the four yard line (prepositional phrase)

If we say that &quot;David Thomas english-muffins&quot; is all nickname, that means theres no verb in the sentence (and therefore its not a sentence).
