Greg lives near us in So Calif, and gave my then-12 yr old son pitching lessons back in 2003. A good guy with a good sense of humor, he made comments at the time that echoed exactly his sentiments towards Red Sox hierarchy concerning their stuffiness in not letting him pitch from both sides in a game.

He threw from both sides of the mound for my video camera, btw-- a fun little keepsake for when my son has a son of his own... :)

Hello, I like your stat Linear Runs Created. Could you please e-mail me an example of the 2011 Season that Ryan Braun had using Linear Runs Created step by step and also should'nt a player be ranked by Linear Runs Created per out instead of per plate appearance and multiplied by 27 to see how many Linear runs created the played has per game? Also how much is a steal worth so we could add that to the formula? Thanks and I appreciate all your help and work. It looks like you have the perfect stat for ranking hitters. Sincerely, Gary Velich.

Collins is the fastest nerd ever, swiping 395 career bags, including 79(!) in 1980.

Also, there's a new glasses-wearing big leaguer in town - Eric Sogard of the A's.

Glasses or not, doesn't all the recreational drug use disqualify him from being considered a nerd?

Vance Law always gave off a John Denver vibe. And the Vance Law Dog was epic. Harry Caray probably tore those up and washed them down with an ice cold Bud.

Harry Caray, when he announced White Sox games, used to call Chris Knapp "the Professor." Knapp's family lived in my small town in Michigan (Stevensville). When I was a kid, he took my dad and me on a very cool player's only tour of the old Comiskey Park. Knapp was a great guy. Too bad his picture on this card isn't better!
