<blockquote><p>During the 1980s, a variation of the Chicago-style hot dog called the <em>Vance Law Dog</em> was sold at Wrigley Field. It featured a traditional Chicago-style hot dog topped with cole slaw and ketchup. Some fans incorrectly referred to the dog as &#8216;The Vance <em>Slaw</em> Dog&#8217; because of the inclusion of cole slaw. The dog was a personal favorite of the late broadcasting legend Harry Caray.</p></blockquote>

<p>Typically, I like to have a baseball card physically in the Nerd Archive before posting it on this site. However, while doing some research for a post on Vance Law, I ran across this card through a <a href="http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_k3pg8z8aErU/SOkLkeJ1lfI/AAAAAAAACW8/EEi9cGfdvXA/s320/Vance%2BLaw%2B1984%2BTopps%2B%2523667%2BAutographed%2Bcard.jpg&amp;imgrefurl=http://donnasautographwebsite.blogspot.com/&amp;usg=__v9DrcmIQwZeNqxd-MvMohKYM4nA=&amp;h=320&amp;w=230&amp;sz=26&amp;hl=en&amp;start=1&amp;um=1&amp;tbnid=7c4NiyW-wi4G1M:&amp;tbnh=118&amp;tbnw=85&amp;prev=/images%3Fq%3Dvance%2Blaw%2B1984%2Btopps%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1" target="_blank">Google image search</a>. Needless to say, I couldn&#8217;t pass it up:</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-970" title="vance_law_picture" src="http://www.nerdbaseball.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/vance_law_picture.jpg" alt="vance_law_picture" width="196" height="204" /></p>
<p>Mr. Law played all 25 innings of the longest game in American League hisory (May 8/9, 1984 vs. Milwaukee). He is also the son of the 1960 Cy Young Award winner Vern Law (who is credited with the saying &#8220;a winner never quits, and a quitter never wins.&#8221;) Stay tuned in future posts for more Vance Law nerd cards.</p>
